My basic interpretation at first was that I understood that it had to do with food I was sure how, it took me a lot longer to understand that it was about how much protein we consume in a year. I think that the overall design could be much more effective in they put it in a pie chart and used colors along with percentages or something the way it is currently laid out it is hard at first to understand if each of those things are a related item or if they are all separate ideas, once you understand they fall under the umbrella of protein it helps, but it’s not the first thing I look at. I like the use of color, although as I said they could do it better in a pie graph and I also like the grouping of graphics and it talked about in the power points shape is important, I feel like I have to read a rectangle box left to right and I was still wondering what I was missing, with a pie chart I think I would better understand that all the information is related. As Donis A. Dondis said “What you see is a major part of what you know, and visual literacy can help us to see what we see and know what we know.” Our job in visual literacy is to get people that see things differently than we do to still see the message we are trying to convey!
